IFA president Eddie Downey has welcomed the appointment of Ireland South MEP Sean Kelly to the role of chairman of the European Parliament's negotiating committee for the International Climate Change Agreement, and has called for recognition of agriculture's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Areas of Natural Constraints scheme opens

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney, has announced the opening of the new Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC) scheme which replaces the Disadvantaged Areas Scheme under the new Rural Development Programme 2014 - 2020. The scheme is co-funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
