The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has set a target to carry out 500 farm safety inspections during its annual Farm Safety Fortnight which takes place from April 13 – 27. The overall aim is to raise awareness and encourage farmers to be proactive in relation to safety, health and welfare.
The Irish Farmers Association (IFA) has teamed up with the Irish Farm Film Producers Group (IFFPG) to encourage members, during the month of April, to actively participate in a rural spring clean initiative. This is part of the IFA’s ongoing campaign to tackle the scourge of litter dumping in rural Ireland.
The annual tax-free forestry premium payments for 2015 will be issued by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine this week, according to Minister of State, Tom Hayes.
Irish Farmers Monthly, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, RTÉ Radio 1's CountryWide, ESB Networks and FBD Insurance have joined forces on a new farm safety awareness initiative. Through education and a radio campaign, it is hoped that the farm safety message will start sinking in and a culture change will commence.
