The government has secured state aid approval for a new Forestry Programme following long and detailed negotiations with the European Commission. The new programme includes €482m investment, 44,000ha of new forests, 700km of new forest roads, 20 per cent higher premiums, 5 per cent higher afforestation grants and 14 per cent higher road grants.
