Forest owners and industry unite at Talking Hardwoods event


'Talking Hardwoods 2017' brought together forest owners and industry represenatives to learn and share information about the management, harvesting and marketing of hardwoods at the Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork today (Tuesday, October 24). This Teagasc-organised event was launched by Andrew Doyle, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine with responsibility for Forestry. 

Minister welcomes Finance Bill measures


Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed, has welcomed two "key measures" in the Finance Bill in relation to stamp duty on agricultural land transactions: the extension for three years of Consanguinity Relief for inter-family farm transactions; and the removal of the upper age limit of 67 for the transferor.

Smart farming exceeds savings target by 74%


The publication of the first Smart Farming progress report shows a significant overshoot of targets for improving farm returns and enhancing the environment, marking a very successful 12 months for the programme, according to the Irish Farmers' Association (IFA) which is leading this voluntary initiative in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
