A new stakeholder working group, to be established by Teagasc, has a very important mission in promoting dairy farming as an attractive source of employment and, indeed, an opportunity for a successful career in a dynamic sector according to the Irish Farmers Association (IFA). This new working group was announced by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed, at the recent Dairy Forum meeting.

IFA reports 'firm' lamb prices

Irish Farmers Association (IFA) National Sheep chairman, John Lynskey, has said lamb prices are firm this week with factories paying from €4.65 to €4.75, with some top prices of €4.80 and more for groups and larger lots. He said all plants have now moved on to 22kg carcase weights.

The strategic partnership and acquisition agreement announced in May 2017 by Dawn Meats and Dunbia have been completed, with all relevant regulatory clearances approved. This paves the way for Dawn Meats and Dunbia to establish a joint venture in the United Kingdom comprising the UK operations of both organisations.
