Irish Farmers Monthly, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, RTÉ Radio 1's CountryWide, ESB Networks and FBD Insurance have joined forces on a new farm safety awareness initiative. Through education and a radio campaign, it is hoped that the farm safety message will start sinking in and a culture change will commence.

Prestigious event celebrates 20th anniversary of FBD Farmer of the Year


The 20th FBD Young Farmer of the Year will be crowned on September 11 at the Castleknock Hotel in Dublin. Organised by Macra na Feirme and supported by the Irish Farmers Association (IFA), there are six additional awards on offer alongside the main prize in this landmark year for the event. Young farmers involved in sectors such as beef, dairy, sheep and other enterprises (including horticulture, pigs, poultry, tillage) are invited to enter and the winner of each sector will compete to be crowned the 2018 FBD Young Farmer of the Year.

UCD farm safety forum celebrates national farm safety campaign


As part of a major national farm safety campaign, taking place from April 11-22 2016, the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science, in conjunction with FBD and ESB Networks, have coordinated a successful forum connected with farm safety at the UCD agriculture and food science centre.
