Agriculture fatalities down by 40 per cent in 2015

Incidents involving vehicles were the main cause of fatal accidents in the workplace, accounting for 21 of the 55 deaths.

Figures released by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) show that fatalities in agriculture were down by 40 per cent in 2015, with 18 deaths reported compared to 30 in 2014. Across agriculture, forestry and fishing the number of fatalities was 24, down from 31 in 2014.
