Michael Duffy retires

Michael Duffy retires today from his position as CEO of The Royal Dublin Society.

The RDS has 3,500 members and was founded in 1791. Michael Duffy joined the RDS 15 years ago, having previously spent 10 years at the helm of Bord Bia, and before that, he headed up the food division of Enterprise Ireland. After taking up the CEO position in 2005, he totally transformed the organisation and invested in developing the committee structure and the creation of the RDS Foundation Board. This strategic committee looked at ways of further developing and modernising the 300-year old organisation. Philanthropy became a key and expanded goal for the Royal Dublin Society, while maintaining its original mission statement through its work supporting Science, Arts, Business, Agriculture and Equestrian activities. Michael, while managing to successfully maintain the RDS vision, also kept a close eye on the bottom-line, leaving a healthy balance sheet behind him on his retirement.

We thank Michael for his incredible contribution to Irish society through his work with the RDS.
