New research highlights potential zinc oxide and soybean replacement

Improving performance, profitability and gut microbiome in pigs is the focus of two seminars that will take place in Cavan and Tipperary on March 28 and 30.

The seminars will examine opportunities to replace both zinc oxide and soybean meal in the pig diet, based on research carried out by University College Dublin (UCD) and Teagasc.

The events will be chaired by Professor Patrick Wall from UCD and speakers include:

  • Professor John O’Doherty from UCD who will speak on the benefits of native treated cereals in pig diets including zinc oxide replacement; and
  • Dr Peadar Lawlor, from Teagasc who will focus on whether native grown field beans can replace soybean meal in pig diets.

The events are free, but registration is required, which can be done on Eventbrite.
