Nature Fest and Urban Harvest Festival will each welcome visitors across two jam-packed days of exciting activities, talks and workshops which will be suitable to all ages. The announcement concludes The Airfield Summer Series of events which embraced all aspects of sustainability from health to food production and nature, in a fun way. Interested visitors are encouraged to book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Airfield Estate is a taste of the country in the city as a 38-acre farm and gardens as well as being an educational charity. Airfield’s vision is to be Dublin’s sustainable food hub and champion Dublin as a sustainable food city. Its mission has always been to let people know where their food comes from. Its upcoming events bring this mission to life and are sure to entertain attendees.

Nature Fest will take place Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th August, where visitors can learn about biodiversity, science, sustainability, and nature through hands-on workshops for all ages and specialist talks and walks. Other activities will include nature crafts, puppet shows and face painting. Included in the line-up is Author Eoghan Daltun (Irish Atlantic Rainforest), Irish Wildlife Trust, Organic Association of Ireland, Irish Seed Savers and much, much more!

The Urban Harvest Festival takes place Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September. This event aims to deepen understanding and appreciation of farming and to diminish the urban/rural divide of communities. This will be Airfield’s version of ‘The Ploughing’ and rural shows seen around the country. Attendees will be immersed in agricultural traditions such as sheep-shearing, sheep-dog trials and cattle displays. Traditional craftsmanship will be showcased with wood turning and wool spinning; while butter-making and butchery demonstrations will reveal the age-old skills behind farm-to-table cuisine.

Speaking about the series, Airfield Estate CEO, Claire Mac Evilly said: “As a pioneer in sustainability and education, Airfield Estate wants to inspire individuals to embrace an eco-friendlier approach to their lifestyle choices. We are proud of the event series that we have created and believe that there is something for everyone to enjoy this summer at our tranquil, green space in the heart of Dundrum and great days out with a difference. We look forward to welcoming new and returning faces this season and offering fun-filled yet learning experiences.”
