Taking precision slurry placement a step forward

Getting slurry nutrients onto the ground is just one part of spreading. Placing them evenly where the crop can make best use of them is another important part. Vogelsang Ireland says it is taking precision slurry application a step further with its first-of-its-kind DoubleFlow Boot, designed to deliver a narrower and more uniform slurry spread.

The DoubleFlow Boot splits the slurry flow into two outlets, reducing the spacing between applications from 25cm to 12.5cm. This creates a narrower, more evenly distributed slurry belt, helping place nutrients closer to where they are needed and improving nutrient utilisation. The integrated PrecisionFlow spout further optimises slurry positioning, supporting accurate and consistent application across the full working width, the company says. 

The technology has also been developed with durability and practicality in mind. A combination of wear-resistant special plastic and a Hardox steel blade provide a robust but lightweight design, while the steel blade can be replaced independently to reduce maintenance costs and extend working life. The DoubleFlow Boot can also be retrofitted to compatible trailing shoe systems, providing contractors and farmers with a straightforward route to improved application precision. The DoubleFlow Boot on Vogelsang’s BlackBird Single 12m trailing shoe creates a complete precision slurry spreading system. Weighing just 1,050 kg, the lightweight BlackBird combines a
12m working width with a horizontal folding design, improving stability and reducing soil loading while providing a compact
2.55m transport width. Its streamlined design keeps overall weight to a minimum without compromising strength or performance, making it well suited to Irish slurry conditions and easier to handle and transport, the company says.
