Agri-Food Regulator at The Ploughing

The Agri-Food Regulator (An Rialálaí Agraibhia) team will be at the National Ploughing Championships (The Ploughing) providing an opportunity to meet the staff of the Regulator and learn more about its work to promote fairness and transparency across the agri-food supply chain.

Attendees are invited to complete the Regulator’s annual survey of farmers, fishers and growers and learn more about the protections available across the agri-food supply chain. Over the three days, staff will be available to answer questions and hear directly from those working in farming about their experiences on the ground.

Commenting, Niamh Lenehan, CEO of An Rialálaí Agraibhia, said: “The National Ploughing Championships is always a fantastic opportunity to meet people from across Ireland’s agri-food sector and hear first-hand about the issues, and experiences that matter to them.

“We are delighted to be returning again this year and would encourage anyone attending to stop by our stand, meet the team and learn more about the work of the Regulator, including the protections offered under unfair trading law and how concerns can be raised.”

A key focus at this year’s stand will be the Regulator’s annual survey, which aims to capture feedback from farmers, fishers and growers on their trading experiences and help inform the Regulator’s work. While the survey is already available online, attendees can avail of the opportunity at the Regulator’s stand to easily complete it.

Additional powers

Attendees will also be able to learn more about the Regulator’s additional function, which will come into effect from December 31, 2026, enabling the Regulator to compel businesses to provide price and market information where voluntary requests have not been met. The information gathered will be used to prepare price and market reports, providing greater insight into prices paid at different stages of the supply chain. The Agri-Food Regulator’s stand will be located in the ‘Supporting People, Supporting Business’ hub in the Government of Ireland Village.
